To explain this theory convincingly, let’s take a quick look at the facts:
- Some guy who doesn’t eat properly drives a Ferrari
- This malnourished man works as a particle physicist.
- The “particle accelerator” is located in a shed.
As far as being a Mega Drive game goes, ahem, Another World is rightly becoming regarded as a classic nowadays. The animation was superb and ground-breaking for the day. It had a cinematic flavour and visual flair that no game before it had conceived of. I first played the game on an Amiga and I was quite shaken by the dark palette and the dreadful sense of being lost. A common feeling experienced in most Tesco car parks.
I’ll admit it, I never finished the game, short though it is. My friend with the Amiga and I got very nearly got to the end (I know it was because he told me so) but then we died and I had to go home. I later bought it for my 3DO but, alas, I barely gave it a look in next to Road Rash and the superior Flashback. Some thing’s are just destined to remain drug-induced episodes of distorted reality, like poor Lester in his Volvo.
